BATTS, batting above her average
BATTS is the musical project of Melbourne-based singer and songwriter Tanya Batt. You should run, not walk, back in time to 2015 and listen to her single Morals (conveniently featured below). It may have been BATTS' debut single but it reached the heights with one million plays online. In radio land, Morals had rotation on BBC Radio 1. Tanya's voice is captivating and she's perfectly mastered the art of balancing organic and electronic elements. After Morals, another success story for her song For That, I'm Sorry, again with great reception from BBC Introducing (which is a platform that showcases unsigned, self-signed and new artists across BBC radio stations in the UK), Triple J of course and online streams all over the place.
But! That was last year. This year, BATTS re-emerged with a single called Lie To Me. Again, this is another beautiful song. And if you are from Melbourne, you should take your cute self to the Lie To Me single launch (yes, it is important to celebrate every song with a party!) at the iconic Workers Club, Fitzroy at 7.30pm on 3 November. Tickets are $15 at the door, or $10 before - that is, if you can get your hands on one, apparently it is selling out pretty quickly.
