Summer inspiration: we talk to influencers about their art and favourite women in music. Meet photographer, business owner, speaker, wife, and mother River Bennett
Welcome to Summer in Australia, and the first of our inspiration series where we chat with artists and business owners about their craft and how music motivates them. Our second profile is River Bennett who is a photographer obsessed with art and the creative process. She founded a website called The Wolfpack Mrs packed with interviews with artist mamas, as well as a birth photography business called The First Hello which will have you feeling all the emotions as she captures the wonder of parents bringing their babies into the world. River took some time to talk about her businesses, her passion for art, motherhood and also curated a very special playlist.
Who are you?
River Bennett – wife, mother, photographer, business owner, speaker.
Tell us about your biz/art/work life?
I’m really passionate about the arts and all its avenues, the creative process and seeing people become successful using their unique gifts and talents.
A few years ago I started a website called TheWolfPackMrs.com
“For mamas with messy hair and thirsty hearts” - a site for mothers (and fathers) who love to create, invent design and also have a passion to raise strong intelligent children for the future world. It’s packed with interviews, articles on the creative process and motherhood and a bunch of travel images to leave readers feeling inspired.
I also run a birth photography business called TheFirstHelloProject.com with a friend of mine Bel Pangburn. Together with our growing team we have had the privilege of documenting some of the most incredible First Hello moments in birthing suites and homes around the world.
We believe photography can unlock the human heart. We challenge ourselves to be brave enough to step into those intimate spaces that some may shy away from and capture it. We honestly believe the world needs images that will set hearts on fire more than ever.
What does music mean to you?
Music drives me.
I am often shooting at gigs or music festivals and have always been aware of the power of music and the impact it has on people.
It has the power to cause deep joy when the world around you is dark, it can undo you with a simple melody and it can melt even the hardest of hearts. Music can take your breath away, dismantle poor mindsets and embed truth in you. Music is a powerful force.
It is a constant inspiration for me, as a photographer, to try and take an image that will have that same kind of impact on people.
What does being a woman mean to you?
It means we have the ability – if we choose – to bring True Beauty into every conversation, atmosphere and home.
