VIDEO: After a super successful career DJing around the world, and with a social media following in the millions, Tigerlily has just released her first pop song "Ashes." Our interview here.
Dara Hayes has been steadily building a career in DJ'ing for seven years. And now, at the age of just 25, the international sensation known as Tigerlily, can boast a social media following that collectively numbers in the millions - both her Facebook page and Instagram page have just shy of 700,000 apiece. When you check out Tigerlily's accounts, you'll find pages filled with a summer fun-loving beauty who is obsessed with physical and mental health, is a strict vegan championing animal rights, and a jetsetter documenting her adventures around the world working as a DJ. This popular and joyous woman is a serious artist who has DJ'ed festivals and shows to tens of thousands of people across the world, touring with likes of Dutch dance master Tiesto and others across Europe and the US. Now, Tigerlily has been signed to a record label and has just released her first pop single, Ashes. While Tigerlily has written and produced a few dance hits for other artists previously, Ashes marks the first time where she takes up her place in the vocal booth and sings her heart out.
But this is no short term gimmick, Tigerlily has been singing and performing music since before she started school. While she says you don't necessarily need to be a musician to be a DJ, Tigerlily most certainly is a musician and now entering the world of pop, singing and songwriting, is keen to show the world just how diverse a performer she can be.
In this interview with Music Love's Julie Kerr - our first video interview, woo! - Tigerlily talks about the world of DJing, including a pivotal moment in her career where she gave up partying to take it seriously, her passion for health, her brand new song, and the deeper meaning behind the music video.
