This year 37 women featured in the triple j's Hottest 100 which, for the first time, was not broadcast on Australia Day as per the wish of sixty per cent of its listeners. Last year sixteen women had performance credits in the Hottest 100. Check out last year's list here. This year that number has more than doubled.

Nine artists have multiple songs in the annual list, including Lorde with four songs from her GRAMMY nominated album Melodrama, as did the Jungle Giants - featuring guitarist Cesira Aitken. Tash Sultana saw three songs make the list, while Vera Blue, Amy Shark, Tash Sultana, Meg Mac, Alex Lahey and Rihanna had two tunes each.

Four songs in the top ten have female performers (Lorde, Julia Stone, Mataya who features on The Thumdamentals hit Sally and Kira Divine who sings on Go Bang by PNAU), and overall women appear in 44 songs. Here is the full list of women - solo acts, featured performers, as well as members of mixed and all female groups and duos - in this year's Hottest 100. Nice work, ladies.
