What a great day for music teachers in Australia. ARIA have just announced a brand new award called Music Teacher of the Year.

Four ARIA nominees will be selected and partnered with an "Aussie music legend" such as Jay Laga’aia, Jessica Mauboy, Jimmy Barnes, Katie Noonan and Missy Higgins, who will visit a school or private music studio, in order to really raise the profile of music teachers in Australia.

And for the first time ever, one teacher will receive an ARIA Award as part of the 2017 ARIA Award celebrations. How cool.

We are very passionate about the role music teachers play. Check out our interview with the President of the Music Teachers' Association NSW and deputy chair of the AMEB, Dr Rita Crews OAM. (She will be a panellist at our Vivid Ideas event on 10 June in Sydney. Details here.)
