Sia is coming back to Australia to play two shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Her first tour since 2011. Amy Shark is supporting
Well, if this isn't the biggest news of 2017. Sia, Australia's most prominent pop export is coming back to Australia to perform in two stadium shows in Melbourne and Sydney as part of her Nostalgic for the Present Tour. Sia is undoubtedly one of the biggest pop stars in the world working with everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Beyoncé. Sia was the most-streamed female artist on Spotify last year, and in August last year, she became the first woman over 40 to top the US charts with her hit Cheap Thrills. Madonna was the last woman over 40 to to do the same - that was sixteen years ago. Unsurprisingly, it has also been announced that Sia will be bringing along her striking performance partner, dancer Maddie Ziegler, the New York Times best-selling author who stars in five of Sia’s music videos.
But perhaps the most exciting part of this news is the fact that indie-pop sensation Amy Shark has been announced as a support act alongside global superstars Charli XCX, and MØ.
It's a huge announcement for Australian women in music. While Sia's Adelaide fans aren't very impressed with the fact Sia has overlooked her hometown, her shows in Melbourne and Sydney promise to be the most exciting Australia has seen in years. Last year Billboard declared the Nostalgic for the Present Tour, "creatively captivating," adding, "For an artist not prone to sprawling tours, Sia fully understands how to make the live experience feel vital.”
