The new era of the new Taylor is finally here. (And, you know what? It's pretty, pretty cool).

Taylor Swift has been under fire over the past couple of months. Her singles in the lead up to her latest album release have laid out a pathway filled with speculation about her personal life with lots of people reading between the lines. Well, perhaps, just reading the actual lines. But gossip and backstabbing aside, let's talk purely about the music that is on her brand new album reputation which dropped midnight New York City time on Thursday. This album is fresh, modern, pop music at its finest. And while reputation is definitely Taylor's most darkest album, it is muted, and delightfully, kind of understated. Her voice is at the centre of the record and Swifties far and wide will be stoked to hear her familiar tone and attitude has actually returned, and done so in a very fine manner. Songs like Getaway Car, Gorgeous, (previously released), and King of My Heart provide much pined for Taylor-esque nostalgia and the final track New Year's Day will break your heart.

Whatever you think of her squad, her politics, her celebrity games, and the huge media scrutiny that surrounds Taylor Swift, deserved or otherwise,  reputation is a pop masterpiece. No denying it.
