GRAMMY Award nominated singer/songwriter Aurelia steps forward with her sophomore release, the coquettishly masterful Chest.
Since the release of her critically acclaimed debut, the demo (sans instruments) of her track Are We Losing, Aurelia has been locked in the studio circling in on a soundscape she says she been looking for to express the feelings trapped in her songs. Chest will be the first of the offerings from this aural endeavour, and an offering of sumptuous indie-pop it is.
After spending the last few years co-writing with other artists, and as a result scoring numerous US Billboard top 10 releases, cracking the triple j Hottest 100, multiple American Blues Music Awards nominations and a nod from the GRAMMY board, the phenomenon that is ‘Aurelia’ is a multifaceted machine, that it would seem, is taking no prisoners with her old world calibre and new world shine.
Chest was recorded in Los Angeles and of the process, Aurelia says, “I got to produce this track with one of my fave partners in crime ‘Thrones’. We had some of the most unbelievable musicians, Matt Laug (Drums - Jagged Little Pill), Paul Bushnell (Bass - The Commitments), Dave Levita (Guitar - Lana Del Rey) come in and lay down their parts, and got to work in a few really incredible studios with the most amazing engineer Tom Weir (Blondie, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin). The process was really quite humbling and magical, and the whole thing came together seamlessly to create a sonic fabric that I’m so proud of and super excited to set free”.
Mixed by Dave Darling (The Temptations, Fanny, Glen Campbell) Chest draws a line between organic instrumentation and ethereal lush deliciousness, effortlessly combining pure musicianship with 20’s-esque cinematic dreamscape to create the perfect canvas for Aurelia to reminisce the magic of an old love, and the freedom that comes from breaking the heavy chains of heartbeat.
